Why choose Jabra wireless headsets

Jabra Pro 9470 wireless cordless telephone headset

Show me all the the Jabra wireless cordless headsets

The demand for wireless headsets (or cordless headsets if you prefer) is gathering pace as each month passes. The two “big boys” of wireless headsets are still Jabra (owned by GN Netcom) and Plantronics.

Both businesses are trying to out do each other in the who is best stakes, the true winner is you!, the headset buying public, such is the demand for wireless headsets, that Jabra and Plantronics are creating high end and multi featured cordless headsets that pass all the quality tests and get a big thumbs up from us at Headsets4business.

So Why choose Jabra wireless headsets?,

In our opinion, it comes down to build quality, features and battery life. With the advent of wideband sound comes the requirement to enable this feature into the wireless headset. Jabra do this really well in all models.

Headsets4business UK provide wireless Jabra headsets like the GN9330E, GN9350E and the Jabra Go cordless range of telephone headsets at great  prices. Please feel free to contact us with any query you may have regarding Jabra or any other headset on 0844 7362 409

show me all the Nortel Networks compatible headsets

The choice of cordless headsets just gets bigger and better almost every month as new wireless headsets hit the business market. The main plus to Nortel Networks is the headset Jack standardisation and compatibility of all phone models, IP and Digital.

This does not affect the cordless headset market (as they all work the same way really!) but it does make finding a compatible wired or corded headset much easier as they all use the same down lead wiring.

BT Paragon 650 550 510 Which headset

Show me all the Paragon 650 550 510 headsets

Let us help you choose the right headset for your Paragon 650 550 or 510 analogue telephone. Read headset reviews on wireless & wired headsets (cordless and corded) all of which are compatible with the BT Paragon series of phones.

The ultra popular BT Paragon series of analogue telephones is a feature packed business grade telephone suited to the home or small office up to large organisations who require an analogue section to there existing PBX.

The BT Paragon 650 550 510 telephone have dedicated headset ports  with a RJ11 headset jack. This allows for greater freedom of choice when it comes to choosing a corded or cordless (wired or wireless in other words!) headset.

Wireless Cordless headset for the BT Paragon 650 550 510 analogue telephone

Wirelss headset Paragon 650 550 510 telephone

This wireless headset has been around for a while now and is fully compatible with not just the BT Paragon series but basically all analogue, digital and IP telephones. The main reason why we recommend this cordless headset is its staying power it has:

  • 150 metre range which is more than enough space for most offices and small home business etc
  • 12 hours talk time which leaves most other wireless headset for dead (average is 6-8 hours normally)
  • The FlexBoom microphone sits closer to the mouth and provides better call quality and noise cancelling, after all this is a business communication tool!
  • Really easy to set up – its basically “Plug n Play”

There are several different models but the Flex Boom 9120 is by far the best in our opinion.

Cost £130 + VAT

Corded wired headset for BT Paragon 650 550 510 business telephones

Corded headset Paragon BT 650 550 510 telephone

With the dedicated headset port on all models, using a wired headset is just as effective as using a wireless or cordless headset. Call quality on the Altesys Opera Light is just excellent and noise cancelling which in our tests was around 90% (its usually 70% in other headsets dependant on model etc) so what else has it got:

  • · Massive 3 year warranty
  • · Works with all Paragon BT series phones
  • · Noise Cancelling technology is standard in all models
  • · Ergonomically Designed
  • · Robust and can stand up to most office environments
  • · Extremely light to wear, so very comfortable

Cost £75 for Monaural (one ear) £80 for Binaural (2 ear)

Siemens OpenStage, Which headset?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Siemens OpenStage Headsets

Show me all the Siemens OpenStage headsets

The latest Siemens OpenStage (Open Stage) IP telephones are feature packed as you would expect from Siemens. As a UK headset supplier, we have taken the time to try and test several headsets on all the Siemens OpenStage IP from major brands like Altesys, Jabra and Sennheiser phones which are the OpenStage 20, 40, 60 and the 80.

Siemens have thankfully gone for RJ11 standard headset jacks rather than 2.5mm. This allows the headset to take standard headset down cables and so keeps the headset prices to a minimum.

What headsets do we recommend for Siemens OpenStage 20 40 60 80 phones?

As we have tested both wired and wireless for volume, call quality and overall reception, we have several headsets of which all are suitable for the OpenStage phones.

We have broken down the headsets into 2 groups

Wireless or Cordless headsets  for Siemens OpenStage phones
All the wireless headsets are Wideband apart from the GN9120 EHS. As OpenStage have inbuilt EHS or the “Electronic Hook Switch” technology, you can remotely answer the calls with these headsets.

  3. Jabra GN9350E Wideband headset

Wireless Cordless headsets for Cisco IP phones

wireless headsets Cisco IP Phones

Show me all the Cisco wireless headsets

When choosing a wireless or cordless headset for your Cisco IP phone, please ensure you purchase the correct headset rather than just going on price alone. The main reason for this is that there are many wireless headsets for all types of IP telephones but some are specifically designed for Cisco especially 7942G, 7945G, 7962G, 7965G and 7975G

The following Jabra Wireless Headsets are all tested and co designed with the Cisco’s Developer Network program. Jabra GN Netcom has developed a wide range of Jabra headsets that are integrated with Cisco Unified IP Phones and Cisco Unified Communication platforms.

Why Jabra?

  • Jabra wireless headsets support remote call control via the EHS (Electronic Hook Switch) It is known by Cisco as a Headset Hookswitch Control (HHC) (HHC adapter is required for Cisco phones, see * below) enabling the users to answer and end calls.
  • This does away with the Headset lifters which have been used up to now to get around this fundamental problem.
  • Installation is “Plug n Play” and ensures seamless integration with your Cisco IP phone.
  • Ergonomically designed and extremely comfortable to wear during the working day
  • They offer true wide band sound and voice clarity (GN9120 is not wideband)

Wireless headset models we recommend for Cisco IP phones as they are all sanctioned by Cisco for use with there IP phones:

Jabra GN9350e wireless headset

Jabra GN9120 Dect EHS Flexboom wireless headset

Jabra GO 6430 OC Noise Blackout wireless headset

Jabra GO 6470 OC Noise Blackout

Jabra Pro 9460 Monaural Flexboom

Jabra Pro 9460 Duo Flex NC (out in July 2010)

Jabra Pro 9470 Monaural Midi

*Jabra HHC Adapters
The Jabra Link HHC Adapter enables remote Headset Hookswitch Control (HHC) with Jabra wireless headsets and Cisco Unified IP Phones. It is a plug-and-play solution  that converts from the HHC standard used in Cisco phones to the DHSG standard used in Jabra headsets – and vice versa

Handset-Headset compatibility: 7942G, 7945G, 7962G, 7965G and 7975G. Cisco Unified IP Phone release 8.3(3) will enable the HHC functionality.

Please feel free to contact us on 0844 7362 409 if you need assistance in choosing the correct wireless headset for your Cisco IP phone.

Telephone Headsets Why Plantronics?

Plantronics telephone headsets

Show me all the Plantronics Telephone Headsets

As the world leader in the manufacture of professional telephone headsets, Plantronics have come a long way in the design and integration of telephone headset technology across the impressive  range of Plantronics headset products.

Although Plantronics have also moved into the “Gaming” and more domestic Bluetooth market more recently, they have there roots firmly fixed in providing high quality, well made and robust professional headsets for the business office and commercial markets.

Plantronics have a large selection of telephone headset models available for all types of working environments. From Plantronics wireless telephone headsets through to new IP wideband models specially optimised for use with Microsoft Office Communicator and other Unified Communication platforms.

Plantronics headsets can be broken down into the following sub brands

Plantronics SupraPlus telephone headsets

By far, the most well known is the SupraPlus range which incorporates both corded and cordless (PLX SupraPlus binaural) telephone headsets and narrow band to wideband. The H251N, H261N (available in monaural and binaural) are the noise cancelling headsets often seen in call centres due to there sturdy and robust manufacture and tested technology.

To the latter end, the SupraPlus is also available in a wideband telephone headset with Plantronics SupraPlus HW251N although this wideband headset has been superseded by the EncorePro series which has more IP technology built in and is often chosen for businesses with IP VOIP telephony. It has been tested quite a bit by our clients and came up trumps every time.

Plantronics EncorePro

As I have already mentioned above, the new EncorePro series has moved in leaps and bounds where technology is concerned. The wideband optimised headset works well to ensure enhanced voice clarity and volume in IP telephony, the fastest growing area of telecoms. It is also worth noting that the Plantronics EncorePro telephone headset series is the best design yet in our opinion and matches the likes of its design rivals like Jabra GN Netcom and Sennheiser.

Plantronics Wireless (cordless) CS60 CS70

Plantronics wireless or corded has also been a firm target for Plantronics with the wireless CS60 as the work horse of cordless telephone headsets and available in DECT and USB flavours, this was followed by the Plantronics CS70 noise cancelling DECT wireless headset but the CS60 is still current and popular as ever for those businesses who have always chosen Plantronics.

Plantronics Voyager 510 and 510S wireless headsets

Plantronics Voyager 510 and 510S are also worthy of note as a useful business grade wireless headset ideal for laptop computers as it is available in USB (510S) format as well.

Plantronics Savi Office 100 200

The new Plantronics Savi Office range consisting of the Savi Office 100 and 200 USB headset. The 100 and 200 are wideband headsets and so optimised for IP telephony and for use with all major Unified communications platforms including Microsoft, Cisco, Nortel and Avaya.

Choosing the best headset for your Laptop Computer

Friday, March 5th, 2010

laptop headsets

Show me all the wireless USB Laptop PC headsets

Show me all the wired or corded USB Laptop PC headsets

Essential information on choosing the best laptop PC headset based on your personal requirments. Headset4business specialise in all types of Laptop PC Computer headsets, stocking all the worlds best selling headsets.

As the Laptop computer becomes even more of an essential business tool, we find ourselves working remotely more often or even using a Laptop permanently in the office. It’s no surprise that the demand for wireless and corded Laptop headsets continues to rise as the manufacturers bring out more and more models to ensure your communications in the working day are more productive.

Connecting a headset to a Laptop PC

To connect a headset to a Laptop is usually via the USB port, in the case of wired headsets, the bottom cable of the headset has a hard  wired USB end so just “Plug n Play” really. Although you can connect via the Sound Card too, this is common in the Skype and Domestic end of the market.

The wireless headset often uses a USB dongle, a simple device which looks like a memory stick which communicates with the base station and charger of the headset.

How do I choose the correct laptop headset for me?

“Wired or Wireless”?

This choice still comes down to personal preference and as always, cost! The advantages of wireless headsets speak for themselves really.

Advantages of a wireless Laptop headset are:

  1. Hands free,
  2. Convenience – no wires to fall over
  3. Range – You can roam away from your laptop or PC (up to 100m+)
  4. Lightweight and comfortable (although this can also be said of wired headsets too!)

Disadvantages are:

  1. Cost is usually higher althought the gap is now smaller with more and more purchasing wireless.
  2. Repairs, consequently are higher if required (life of a wireless headset is 2-3 years if using every day Mon-Fri.
  3. Sound quality can be slightly impared than wired headsets as there is a digital connection, rather than a wired one to your computer (but this is less and less with the latest models in our opinion)
  4. The headset relies on a battery for powering it (but so do Laptops if being used remotely!)

Wired or Corded headsets for your Laptop PC

Advantages are:

  1. Technology is sound and tested (80% of the market is wired or corded)
  2. Cost is often less expensive
  3. relatively inexpensive to replace if needed
  4. Build quality is often more robust and so withstands more knocks and falls etc
  5. No battery required as its powered by the laptop directly

Disadvantages are:

  1. The main one is freedom to move, as you are connected to your laptop by a wire with about 2m of length, although it varies depending on the brand. Obviously convenience is affected when using a wired headset.

If you have any questions on laptop headsets or any general headset queries, please feel free to contact us on 0844 7362 409.

Softphone headsets the best reviews

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Show me all the Softphone headsets

Offering UK softphone reviews of wireless and wired headsets suitable for IP telephony using PC, Laptop etc and Unified Communications. professional headsets are available for Avaya softphone, Cisco softphone and Nortel softphone headsets

Fast diminishing are the days (or so it seams) of the wired desk top business telephone. With the advent of softphone technology, the ability to use a PC based on screen telephone is now fast becoming the preferred choice for large and small UK business. The main benefits speak for themselves really, no hard product outlay (desk phones), the use of IP telephony rather than the traditional PBX, cost savings, easy to use plug n play technology, better reporting, etc the list is endless.

So which headset is the correct softphone headset for your business?

Firstly, a look at the cheap and cheerful headsets, that you see strewn across the internet for £15 to £30 usually. In our experience it will always be about quality NOT quantity, you can not have it both ways. Cheap headsets have there place fixed firmly in the domestic market i.e. Skype and MSN etc rather than the professional office.

Major softphone technology makers like Nortel, Cisco and Avaya (world leaders in so many telecoms related fields) do not recommend so called “cheap headsets”, they choose the professional headsets of Jabra, Plantronics, Sennheiser and Altesys.

Why?

Because they (the headset manufacturers) spend as much time, money and enthusiasm getting products to market which are well made, uses the latest technology, ergonomically designed and provide the customer  with a dedicated support network (that usually includes us as well) The whole idea of Unified Communications is for speed, ease of use and greater productivity. So why then use  products which often do not reach the same high standards as that of the softphone manufacturers?

Wireless headsets for softphones

Plantronics Savi Office 200 wireless softphone headset

The new Savi range from Plantronics has seen quite a shift to a far better (in our opinion) designed and technology led headset with the Savi 200 softphone headset being optimised for Microsoft Office Communicator softphones as well as Cisco, Nortel, and Avaya etc and true wide band sound.

Like all wireless softphone headsets, it has the freedom of wireless and offers great sound quality with good battery life, combine this with a good range, it can not be faulted.

Cost is  £220 for the Plantronics Savi office 200

Jabra GN9350E softphone USB headset

wireless softphone headset Jabra GN9350E

Very stylish softphone headset and looks great on any desk, offering wideband sound and voice call clarity second to none, this is a truly great headset. The GN9350E just gets better and better. It has been out for a while now in other guises but this new version has seen the addition of new features and technology that Jabra should be rightly proud of.

All in all, a great headset with a higher end price but one that works so seamlessly with all softphones and wired desk phones alike.

Cost is £220 for the Jabra GN9350E wireless softphone headset

Telephone headsets Choosing the right headset!

Choosing a telephone headset

Show me all your telephone headsets

Where do you start when searching for the right kind of telephone headset? Wired or wireless telephone headsets, cheap or quality? It can be a mine field if you don’t do the ground work first. The best and simplest way to do this is to answer the following questions in order to ensure you are buying the correct headset for you!

Cost – This is first as the cost affects all the following sections.
Do you have a budget in mind e.g. less than £50 (cheap telephone headsets), £50 + (professional quality office telephone headsets)

Noise Cancelling

Is it noisy where you work, are there people either side of you who you can hear when talking to someone on the phone? All our headsets are noise cancelling and is pretty much standard now across all the major professional headset manufacturers.

Comfort

You get what you pay for in most cases, the cheaper they are, the less attention to build quality and ergonomics (comfort design, call quality etc) goes into the headset. The major telephone headset manufacturers spend millions of pounds on design and technology.

Quality

Does the headset need to last, does it have to be durable and be used on a regular basis, for long periods of time?

One ear or two?

Monaural headsets (one ear) make up over 90% of the market , Binaural (two ear) headsets tend to be used where it is noisey and concentration on the call is essential.

Wired or Wireless

Wired headsets are often less expensive and can offer better sound quality in some headsets. They do not require batteries as they are powered by the phone. They make up about 75% of the headset market.

Wireless headsets are “hands free” allowing you to roam around the office, desk or warehouse etc freely. They are usually more money and connect with all phones via Bluetooth. They require charging on a regular basis as they are powered by a battery, talk time and overall battery life differs from one headset manufacturer to another.

“We will happily show you the different battery life and features of all our Wireless headsets, just ring us”

Connectivity

What are you connecting to?

Make and Model
Firstly we need to know the make and model e.g. Cisco 7960G IP telephone

Analogue or Digital telephone

Wireless or wired is fine, you may need a headset switch or amplifier (see Headset Myths below) if the headset does not have its own dedicated port or jack for the headset. Older phones don’t, newer phones do “as a rule of thumb”

IP telephone

Wireless or Wired is fine but IP handsets usually require increased amplification for better call quality. They often require Wideband headsets that work on a wideband frequency to allow for better call clarity, just tell us your phone model and we can suggest some examples.

PC or Soft phone – you will need a USB headset

Brand

We tend to be creatures of habit where brands are concerned and we often come across the larger businesses that will specify a particular brand and will not shift away from that brand no matter what!

Is this right or wrong?

Well telephone headset technology moves at a swift pace, especially in the top manufacturers  like Jabra, Plantronics, Sennheiser and Altesys. They are always trying to develop better call quality, build quality, comfort and to a degree, price!

Our professional opinion is to organise a free trial with a few headsets from us for a week or so, pass them around the staff that will be using them and see what fits. Don’t get too carried away with “But we have always used Plantronics headsets”

Use your own experience, to choose the right headset for your business.

Headset Myths

All telephones have dedicated headset jacks or ports (to plug the headset into)

Wrong, many older phones require you to connect the headset by removing the receiver by taking the curly cord out and plugging the headset directly into the port where the receiver was originally.

“The problem with this is you do not have the use of the receiver and can only hear a call when the headset is being used”

Solution – get a headset handset switch, this sits between the phone and the headset. It allows the use of the headset and receiver by simply pressing either handset or headset but you still have to lift the receiver and place at the side of the phone in order for the headset to work.

Note: The new breed of telephone have dedicated headset ports and even EHS (Electronic Hook Switch) this enables a wireless headset to automatically answer and finish a call remotely, but only if you are using a wireless Bluetooth headset.

More questions? Just ring us on 0844 7362 409 and we will try our very best to ensure you choose a telephone headset that fits your requirements.

Jabra review GN9350E wireless headset

Show me all the Jabra wireless headsets

Althought the Jabra GN9350 wireless headset has been around for a while, the new jabra GN9350E version is packed full of features and improvements as you would expect from the one of the world leaders in headset design and technology.

The Jabra GN9350E wireless headset’s main strengths are the fact that it is optimised for MOC Microsoft Office Commuincator and so is the ideal candidate for IP telephony (its a wideband headset too!) but it will work on any business desk top phone also!

its light and very comfortable to wear, it has an impressive 300m range which we have tried and as long as you dont have 8ft thick walls, it works great. As one of our best selling headsets along with its partner the lesser spec GN9330E , our review is almost insignificant as the orders speak for themselves.

Consequently we have to give it a well earned 5 star rating!
